AN office worker from Paisley is flying high after being named as the country's top secretary.
Out of hundreds of thousands of office support staff across the UK, Jennifer Thomson from Whitesbridge has been named 'Office Administrator of the Year' in a national competition organised by Lawprint, the print and office supplies specialist.
In addition to the title Jennifer, 36, who was married just seven months ago, won a romantic trip for two on a spectacular seaplane flight from Glasgow to the Highlands.
"Winning the competition was a bit of a shock to me," said Mrs Thomson who works for the Beith-based Alliance Wine company in Ayrshire.
"I only found out I was nominated for the competition when I was told that I had won."
"It feels good to know that I'm appreciated by my teammates and I feel quite humble."
"In the past I haven't even won £10 on the lottery. I am looking forward to going up on the plane as it will be a great experience. I've never done anything like it before."
Alliance sales administrator Tracey Russell 30, nominated Jennifer as a reward for her hard work in helping to keep the office and sales operation of the company running smoothly.
"As soon as I heard about the awards I thought of Jennifer. I nominated her because she does a lot for other people and I thought she was due some recognition.
"She is a people person and is always available to help anybody who has any problems."
Lawprint company director Lesley Findlay said that Mrs Thomson was a worthy winner of the award.
"We ran this competition because we feel that a lot of people do not get recognised in companies for the job that they do", she said. "Jennifer was selected because she runs a very tight ship and she is dedicated to looking after her staff. Often secretaries play a very important role but they turn up everyday, do their jobs and go home without any recognition. We thought we would run this competition to reward someone who does their job well on a 9 to 5 basis."
